It was another typical British day, a bit grey and a bit rainy! Finding myself in Hastings I felt a visit to the much raved about 1066 Cake Stand was needed.
My last trip to Hastings was too late for their opening hours (11-3 Monday-Friday 11-5 Saturdays) so I missed the chance to visit the store – but I did have a lovely phone call with Shelly, who directed me to the nearest Shakeaway to me for a vegan mint choc shake!
However this day- I was ready for elevenses!
Popping into the shop, I found an array of gorgeous baked goods, sweet & savoury (scrummy smelling onion bajjis). Super reasonable prices, and a special gluten free section (baked in a gluten free kitchen!)
There’s also a range of vegan goodies, Vegusto products, ami pet food, biscuits, marshmellows, sweets and even Hastings Brewery Beer for a touristy memento.
Shelly and Kev are so friendly and helpful, I had another good natter with Shelly. She told me all about the awesome Vegan cake club they run, £12 a month for four good portions of fresh treats on the 12th of the month, all over the UK! Check it out here!
There’s also lots of cool literature about animal welfare & the environment to pick up and have a read of – plus some cool arty bits – check out these record player cake stands I snapped!
So… what was in my basket?
Schalgfix squirty cream. Always a winner, never bettered. Love it.
Vivani White Chocolate Nougat Crisp Bar. A steal at 99p – so good it will have it’s own review page soon!
Amazing freshly baked Rock Cakes
Delicious orange cake. A fantastic portion, so scrummy with tasty icing and a lovely sugary orange slice on top. So yummy.
So – if you are visiting Hastings or just passing, you have to stop off here and pop in, not only are they lovely people, they have a huge passion and innovative ideas. Fill up on cake and leave happy!
